pixel aspect ratio
by Greg Pilon on Jun 30, 2009 at 8:20:01 pm

I shot with red at 4k 16x9 mode. I brought it into FCP at 2048x1152 because of the down rez and set the pixel aspect ratio to square. Everything looks great, but when I export a web version I use 640x360 a 16x9 frame and set the pixel aspect ratio to square, and it comes out stretched. Actually, DV 16x9 looks closer than square. So why is it looks great in FCP with square set, and then when I export a web version it looks stretched? Is there a correct setting for Red 16x9 footage? I'll post some screen grabs below, Thanks

Looks like you shot 2:1 NOT 16x9 since the Frame size is actually a 2:1 Ratio.

IN 16x9 this would bet letterboxed.

Well, chalk this one as one of my stupid mistakes. That was it, I had another sequence in 16x9 and I thought this one was in 2048x1152, but right in front of face, it was showing 2048x1024. Thanks for the help, Greg
