the future of IS's Motor
by brian buschmann on Apr 19, 2008 at 7:24:43 am

I'm working on a non-paid project where there's lots of Roto work and Motor could really help out.

after reading about Mogul and the idea of subscribing to Apps rather than purchasing them i'm hesitant to purchase Motor now as the future or transition from one business model to another is un-clear from IS.

ideally the sub or 'rent when need' model is much better for me... as i don't do a lot of Roto on a regular basis.

anyone out there heard what's going on?

cheers, brian

Just to reassure you there is no abandoning of the current product line. What will happen is there will be migration of the current products to make them parts of the mogul VFX architecture.

While it has not been flushed out yet, there will be a way to migrate from the existing app to the next-gen mogul version of the app that will be consistent with the price you paid.

The user base of the existing products are our biggest asset, you can rest assured they will be taken care of.

If you would like, since you seem like a freelancer, please email me directly as I may be able to help you out a bit on costs.
