Relink to a longer clip in Mocha

Relink to a longer clip in Mocha
by Sondra Selhorn on Apr 15, 2008 at 10:55:19 pm

Is there a way to relink a project file to a shot that is longer than the original. For example, if a director decides to make a shot longer after you have already begun the roto work. I have tried using the relink function when I am opening the clip, and also in the clip tab, but neither one will update to reflect the new length of the clip. Any ideas??? If not, is there any way to copy splines or data from one project to another?

Thanks guys!

I have exactly the same problem in MOTOR. Is there no way to replace clips by longer versions of the same clip?
Another way of dealing with it would be to export the layers from one project to another project. But as far as I know this is not possible either (at least in MOTOR).
Any help would be highly appreciated!

thank you!

All should have to do is upon opening the project, when you get to the page that shows the clip name, click on the folder next to it and select a different clip. This should import your tracking data with the new clip.

Secondly, if the project is already open you should be able to go to the Clip tab on the bottom of the screen and select Relink... and select a new clip.

I have tried both of these.

When I tried to select a different clip upon opening, the original clip length remained even though the new clip had more frames.

When I tried relinking in the clip tab, this is the message I got: "Original clip cannot be relinked to different length clip; reopen project with different clip instead."

Apparently, the original clip length is embedded somewhere in the .mocha file and once defined cannot be changed. Wow this is inconvenient. I am dreading starting over on something because a handful of frames were added.

When you open the project and select a new clip it does not automatically select the entire frame range. You will notice the begin and end frame in the window, Just increase the end frame range to add the new frames and this should work for you. You will see the red handle on your timeline showing the end of the previous clip.
