Hi,
I am new to this forum and would like to know if anyone has any ideas of where and how I can store a large amount of footage other than using external hard drives. I currently shoot with Panasonic HVX and I capture to a g-raid hard drive. After the project is complete I transfer all of the footage and project files to an external hard drive. Last November, I went to retrieve some footage from a few years ago and found the hard drive defective.
Are there companies that offer this service?
Thanks
Laura

This may sound biased considering I work for a tape reseller, but I would seriously consider laying your source footage and then a copy of your final show off to DVCPRO tape. While it's so easy to keep all your old footage and project files sitting on a hard drive for instant access, the potential rate of failure with that hardware as a long-term storage solution is still unacceptable in my opinion. Any time I store important data to a hard drive I make sure I also have another copy some place else. Tape is cheap, and it only takes a little extra time to make that backup. Then it's easy to burn your project files (minus the footage) to disc media and put it all on a shelf.
