Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm starting from scratch creating a tape library. Any suggestions for organizing? Any electronic database systems anyone has found to work? I'm literally organizing the physical Beta SP tapes and DVCAM etc. on shelves and then creating an organized way everyone from the company can access them. I'm thinking chronological then alphabetical. I realize this may be a basic question for some, but I've never done this before. Right now it's kind of a mess. There are some old tape logs which ended a couple years ago so I'm picking it up from there.
Thanks so much!

Eric

Eric, we're in the process of putting together a web-based system that lets you organize, log, and even print labels for tape libraries. We're in the beta phase and looking for testers. If you're interested in trying it out, you're welcome to put the system through its paces.

You can email me at cale.mooth@tapeonline.com and we can give you a better idea of how the system works and whether or not you might want to give it a try.

Hey gibber4,

I learned how to use the database app Filemaker Pro and use it to keep track of my tape and disk libraries. Works really well. If you have Filemaker, I can email you a clone of my library database. It saves so much time when you have your tapes organized.

Hey Reins,

I have Filemaker Pro and need to create a database to keep track of tapes. I'm having a difficult time getting started and could use some help. Would you be able to email me a clone of your library database so that I have some sort of starting point to go by?

Thanks in advance,
p

Hey gibber4,

I'm in the same boat that you were in when you created this post. Were you able to create your tape library?

Genuinely,
p
