As long as you have the GPU enabled in Preferences, along with
a good GPU Video Card, it benefits your entire Vegas workflow.

To enable GPU for timeline playback/processing go to:

Options | Preferences | Video

and under:

GPU acceleration of video processing:

select your Graphics Card.

[Thayalan Paramasawam] "i am using radeon hd 6770 graphic card."
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) is the company that makes the Radeon HD 6770 graphic card (i.e. they bought out ATI) so Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (Juniper) is your graphics card and the setting you should be using.

Joost Zeeveneegelbeekgeneral problems with SVP12
by on Oct 25, 2012 at 10:19:01 am

I can't find the thread about this problem which existed a couple of hours ago, that was about Pro12 crashing when trying to preview or render. I have the same problem. Took your advise and removed Vegas versions from the system, then re-installed 12. I have a brand new graphics card Ati Radeon HD 7000 series with 1Gb and GPU is ON. What else can I be doing wrong?

I don't believe rendering mpeg2 out of Vegas is actually GPU accelerated. Intel's next chipset is supposed to have hardware mpeg2 encoding built in which is interesting, but that won't be out until next Spring I imagine.
