getting full 16:9 video from iphone

I think you have to hold the phone sideways to get it to be 16:9. As you already stated you can zoom in, but at a loss of resolution and part of the picture. Another option is to pan and zoom to show the interesting parts of the video or have a creative background instead of just the black bars on the sides.
