| Sony Vegas Pro Audio Problems
• | | | |
I've recorded a 1 hour and 50 minute video, and I'm trying to edit it in Sony Vegas Pro 10. The part that I need starts at about 1 hour 20, and ends at about 1 hour 35. The audio works perfectly fine untill about 45 minutes into the video, when I start to play it from anywhere after that, it takes the audio from the start of the video and uses it from there for some reason. The audio works perfectly fine when I play the video, so it's not a problem with the video itself, but with Sony Vegas. Unfortunately I discovered this after spending 4 hours rendering what I thought was a finished video. I have no idea what's causing this, or how to fix it, the audio stream below the video looks fine and normal, but it's just not working...
If anyone can help me figure out what is going on, I would greatly appreciate it.

Marucs, I'm having a real problem reconciling your 2 statements:
Statement 1
[Marucs Fitzsimons] "The audio works perfectly fine untill about 45 minutes into the video, when I start to play it from anywhere after that, it takes the audio from the start of the video and uses it from there for some reason. "
Statement 2
[Marucs Fitzsimons] "The audio works perfectly fine when I play the video, so it's not a problem with the video itself, but with Sony Vegas"
Please assist me to assist you.
Cheers
Grazie

Well I have the video, and if I play it in Windows Media Centre etc. the audio is perfectly fine, it's 100% synced, but it isn't in Sony Vegas, in Sony Vegas it's synced until the 45 minute mark, and after that it just restarts the audio from the start of the video, no matter where I start it after 45 mins. If I started it on 50 mins, the audio would start from the start of the video, or if I started it from 1 hour 30 mins, the audio would still start from the start of the video.
Hope I helped make my problem a bit clearer, I honestly have no idea what's going on. It's quite a difficult one to explain.

Well, I'm real glad I asked for clarification, I have never heard if this.
Would you be able to do a screen grab showing exactly the Media Events on the Timeline and post it here?
Grazie

Certainly, as far as I can tell, it all seems normal enough, but I'm very inexperienced with this, and couldn't trust my own judgement on it.

[Marucs Fitzsimons] "I'm trying to edit it in Sony Vegas Pro 10"
Which version of 10? a,b,c,d or e?
I have experienced first hand instances when Vegas 10 would swap events on the timeline with events related to the media set and nested veg files I was working with (i.e. from the same folder, not from other projects/folders), but I have not heard it doing that with audio tracks alone. This issue remained unresolved with Sony in version 10, as far as I am aware. Since using Vegas 11, I have not had this issue.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 11 (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

I honestly have no idea what version of Sony Vegas 10 I have, I'm very inexperience with this, only having edited a few videos.

On the top menu, go Help - About Vegas Pro.

Ahh, alright, thanks. I apparently have version C.

I've just upgraded to 10e, and after restarting my computer, Sony Vegas is not opening at all, no matter which way I try it, it just does not open.

Marcus, did you ever get your issue resolved? I have the exact same issue using Vegas Studio HD 11 and can't seem to find a way to resolve it. I'm glad I finally found someone else that was having the problem. I run a 90 minute radio program and when I try to edit anything after 45-55 minutes (depends from time to time) the audio resets to start playing what was at the beginning of the audio file.
So, just checking to see if you had an update.

I did resolve my problem, but I'm struggling to remember exactly how, but as far as I remember, I updated my 10.0c version, to 10.0e, that caused Sony Vegas to just not open at all. So I uninstalled it, and reinstalled 10.0e, but I think it still wouldn't open, so I uninstalled it once again, and deleted every single file I could find that had much of anything to do with Sony Vegas. After that, I reinstalled it, and I'm quite sure it worked then.
I've also just had a look at the video (fully working one) I was having a problem editing, and it was created the same day I last posted about my problem, so the solution must not have taken long.
If you haven't got the latest version of Sony Vegas 11.0, I'd advise updating it before uninstall/reinstalling everything, I wouldn't imagine you would run in to the same problem I had after, and it might be fixed for you that easily. If you have got the latest version though, the easiest solution I'd know of would be just to uninstall, and delete all files of it before reinstalling.
Let me know if you fix it, or are still having trouble, if it's the latter, I'll continue to try and remember anything else from my situation.
