Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 9 no cam showing up!!!

Hi, I'm new to this thread, and a newbie at video, but really need some help.

I'm a pro musician, looking to do video lessons for the web.

I have a pretty ez set up and need to be able to record 4 tracks into vegas.

1 video from an external cam
2 my guitar
3 my voice
4 an mp3 of the songs I will teach

I'd like them to be locked so I don't have to wiggle things around to get it to work. I don't need much editing other than very basic cuts.

But I'm having serious issues I can't seem to solve.

What I DO have working is-I can put the MP3 into VEGAS. I can record through my soundcard (Focustire Saffire) and get tracks locked-L Ch Guitar, R Ch voice.

But I can't seem to get me video to open my cam (it wants to only use my webcam from my dell) a Panasonic HDC-HS60.

The Panasonic does not show up in the Sony Video Capture 6.0 software under the Video TAB.

Panasonic says it uses normal Windows and Mac drivers and should just show up.

I"ve been at this many hours but can't seem to fix it.

Can ANYONE help??

When I ran the compatibility app for windows, it said the drivers were loaded.

The drive for the cam shows up in My Computer. and it is in cam mode, not playback.

when I mount, the computer (dell laptop) autoplays the Panasonic capture software.

follow up in suggesting and asking. You should have no
problem following all the proper procedures.

Yes, that's the workflow.

No, there is no other way. Your first problem is that your camera doesn't have a live output for recording so you can't record directly from your camera to the PC anyway. That camera can only record to it's own media and then you copy to PC as a second step. That's a camera limitation not a Vegas Pro limitation.

I also don't know of any software that captures live video with multi-track audio from multiple sources even if your camera could. You would need to buy a better camera and a capture card that supported video with multiple audio channels like a Blackmagic Design Decklink Studio card or something.

One thing you could do is record everything to the camera. If that camera has a stereo audio input (which it may not, but if it does), you could record your vocals on the left track and guitar and mp3 on the right. You'd need an audio mixer for the guitar and mp3 but that would give you everything in one stream that you can capture to your PC and not have to sync up.
