Hi all!

Firstly let me start by saying what a great pleasure it has been using Creative Cow over the past few years. Up until now I have been able to find countless answers to my many questions without actually signing up to the site. I am glad the opportunity has arisen where I feel I needed to set up an account so that I could show my appreciation. Thank you and great job to everyone involved!

Ok so I have been having a problem with Vegas crashing when I load a project. My current project contains around 30 gigs of project media. I noticed when I added a 2 gig file to the timeline towards the end of the editing process it crashed. I closed the program and restarted the project file which opened ok. The I dragged the same clip into the project media and it crashed again. Now when I open the project it gets to 28% and then freezes.

My questions are:
Can I load the project without the lasted added clip (I did not save the project befor it froze)
Is there a way to restore a project by time?
Is my system crashing over the project size?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as the project's deadline is tomorrow.
Joe

Try importing the project in Vegas and drag it to
the timeline, just as you would import a normal piece
of video, and see if that works.

It drags in as one video and one audio track in the timeline but only previews the text media and audio when played.

Then seems like something is wrong with the original videos
itself or where they are located. Close Vegas and rename the folder
where the original clips are in and even move it to another
location....Then open Vegas and load your project as you normally
would, a pop up dialogue should now prompt you that files are
missing, follow the instruction and point it to the renamed folder
in the new location. Now lets hope it loads and you get to finish
your work in time.

That worked Steve! One or two files were offline but I re-encoded them and now everything is looking good again. Thank you!

Wonderful....glad to help....When working with large project, you
can render out increments or save smaller portions of the project,
just to be on the safe side.

i had similar issues with sv11. 30' project went nice unless you have too many media in bins. crashes and crashes so i get rid of sv11 and came back to 10 as i already mentioned some time ago.
so at this very moment for example when i strike alt+tab i'll have myself in the middle of a big one: 150 gb of medias, 4 hrs on the timeline. not a single crash!!!

Yeah, wish Vegas 11 was as stable as version 10 Paul.

i've heard about sv12. actually i wish it would be only sv1 but with "p" standing for PRO, a real pro. i have a feeling that from some time they only keep changing numbers. after going back to sv10 the only thing that i miss is filtering fxs. apart from that sv10 has all i need and i don't plan to even take a look at sv12 :)))
all the best guys and... where i live filmmakers say "i wish you break the tape". but only those older filmmakers say that. i don't know what younger say. probably "melt your cards"... :)))

I purchased Vegas11 when it first came out and had trouble with it so went back to 10. Tried 11 the other day on a small project and it was a nightmare in just about every aspect. Some people are having good luck with it but I can't recommend it.

they should stop calling it "pro". few guys in sony should really wake up. they are loosing the market. too bad because the concept is outstanding. i don't deal with 3d so i only take sv and photoshop and i am really able to do everything i need. it really is a perfect and the best solution for one man crew type of work. well, it was until the 11 came out from the pandora's box... :)
