I went to re-edit a part of a wedding I edited a few weeks ago. When I opened up the part (in Vegas Pro 10), I noticed that some of the clips that were originally in the video were different from the ones I put in there originally. What could cause such a thing? Has this happened to anyone else?

I tried to correct this by taking out the wrong clips and putting back the correct ones. I saved it under the original video title. Then, when I went back to the a nested video that included this part, I saw that they had again reverted to the wrong clips, even though I distinctly remember saving the video with the correct clips.

I am going to try again, and this time change the title of the video, and see if this solves the problem.

Any other ideas? Thanks, Jim

It's a known bug. Version 11 is supposed to have fixed it and I've never experienced it in Version 11 myself. Here's a possible solution from the SCS users website. (Well, not a solution but you can detect the problem before you take the time to encode your output).

I've just placed version v1.0.34 of Timeline Tools on the web site. This include some bug fixes and a new display filter that shows only those events that have a mismatch between the Take name displayed in the event, and the media file name that was the source of the take.

This is especially useful for those of you who've experienced the infamous Sony Vegas Changed Media bug.

I've had this several times. It's VERY frustrating. Knowing Vegas has this bug, you have to re-watch every second of your long render to ensure everything is OK. You simply loose too MUCH time. And it's not true version 11 doesn't suffer from this.

I remember another thing: disappearing events (black holes) after render.

Hope this is fixed in v12.

Gotta agree with you. This has been a royal PIA. I am now on my fourth re-edit of this part of the video, and each one takes me almost an hour. I hope Sony is following this thread. I've enjoyed Vegas for many years, but if this keeps up, I may well want to try another NLE. Jim

It's "good" to know it is a known issue. I was concerned that Ihad some kind of virus or registry issues. Thanks for letting me know. Jim

I take my words back. If I had a virus, I could get rid of it. This is driving me crazy. I just spent hours re-editing, and I can't keep it from reverting back to garbage. I feel like kicking someone in the ....

Does anyone have a solution for this?? Jim

No.

The release notes for Vegas 11 said that it was fixed, and it never happened to me in Version 12. (It did in Version 10). However, some people have said they get it in V11.

There seems to be no commonality or cause to the problem. No one can reliably reproduce the problem. It's not repeatable or predictable, so it's going to be pretty difficult to observe in the lab, let alone fix.
