John Rofrano told me of a new audio program by Sony.
It looks very promising.

It's called SpectraLayers
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/spectralayerspro

I downloaded their demo version along with their sample audio which I followed along with and it worked like magic.
Then I tried some of my own audio which needs repair and it was not nearly as clear cut. Their audio sample with a siren is clearly something easy to see in their spectrum but when I tried to remove cricket sounds on my audio sample it became a lot less obvious where those sounds were in order to be removed.

I'm looking forward to working with it and learning it. Anxious to hear what others have to say.

I'm putting a small audio sample here of a man talking and a Ferrari revs its engine in the background. If that can be removed I'd be convinced but it seems impossible to me.

I'd love it if someone would give it a try.
