Best computer setup for Vegas Pro 11 -64 bit

Whats wrong with your self made computer?
What are its specs?

There is no law that says if you get a brand new fast
computer, crashes with Vegas 11 64bit will stop happening.

I use both BYO and manufactured PC's, and I have very few problems with Vegas 11 on any of them. I prefer the BYO computers because of two issues. First the manufactured PC's usually lock areas of the BIOS that inhibits any hardware upgrades, and second, I have experienced more software problems on manufactured PC's (HP, e-machines, Dell) than any of my BYO's.

Also, the O/S that comes bundled with the manufactured PC is so loaded with crapware, some of which cause problems with Vegas, that the first thing you want to do is replace the O/S with a clean install. Which means buying another copy of Windows. Which also means voiding your warranty. Which is mostly worthless anyway since their idea of repairing the PC is to restore the O/S to the as-shipped image.

Vegas can use as many cores as your motherboard can handle. GPU's are released so fast that it's almost impossible to keep up to date, but the Vegas use of the GPU is through OFX. All boards from Nvidea are OFX compliant. Just look for one that has a lot of CUDA cores. Some are trying the GTX680 but the GTX670 was just released. A lot cheaper than the 680 but almost as powerful.

Note, though, if you have a screaming fast multi-core CPU, then GPU support may be slower than CPU alone.
