rendered moviestudio file wont load into dvd architecture

I have rendered a file from movie studio11 and tried it a couple of different ways. It is being saved each time as a VF file. In dvd architecture I click insert media and this file, but is says "the selected file is not the required type"
I guess I need to make movie studio save it in a different file type???

The VF file is your Vegas project file and is what you would open to do any further work to the project.
You need to give DVD Architect MPEG-2 (for video) and an AC-3 (for audio) files.
Make sure each has the same name and get encoded (rendered) to the same folder. That way, when you load the video file, the audio file will automatically follow it.

Sorry I have tried that a couple of times. I click on render then Main Concept MPEG 2, then DVD ARCHITECT WIDESCREEN VIDEO STREAM. I render video, next sound. In Dvd Architect I click on insert media, click on the file and dvd architect says "selected file is not the required type". The file has a sony vegas lens icon on the left side, it has not the ".mpg" that I expected. Instead it says its a VF File.

It sounds to me like you're clicking on the wrong file.
Set your view to "Detail" to make sure that you're clicking on the mpeg-2 file and not your project file.

I'm not sure what u meant by click view to "detail" but i found the file. Sony vegas created a file called "sony vegas movie studio hd platinum 11.0 projects" Previously rendured projects were there, and so was this project I called "our ponds" but not the right file type. It was a VF file. I noiced a folder also with the projects and opened it and there is 8 files with the "our ponds" title. One with a "Q" on the left says its audio. Next ends with ac3.sfk (audio i suspect) next ends with ac3.sfl. Next is a movie clip. next ends with a m2v.sfl. Next ends with m2v.sfvx. Next is a movie clip. Last one ends with mpg.sfl. The Movie file did load into DVD Architect.

Other projects that i worked on with movie studio were saved by the program in a picture file it created called new folder and those mostly have a sony icon on them of a camera lens and a lock on the left side. Why is it saving files in different places and in such different styles?

Because you're letting Vegas save according to it's own defaults instead of where you want it to save.
I make it a point to save to specific locations (a render folder located inside of my master project folder). That way, I know exactly where everything is.

When you encode (i.e. render), Vegas automatically creates a number of different file types. All you need to worry about are the mpg and ac3 files. In the examples below, the .dar file is the project file for DVD Architect Pro.

Here are screenshots from a recent project of all the file types created after rendering.
The first one is a thumbnail view while the other is the detail view. As you can see, one gives you a lot more information than the other.

Thanks Mike. Im learning a lot and starting to get the results ive hoped for. SonyCreative Software takes 3 weeks to answer a question on line and it'll be generally a generic answer that is about 40% helpful.
Ive spent mega hours trying to get a file to burn in HQ instead to HSP. (see question on June 17th) I think it was because the file was 76min when loaded, that some automatic thing ajusted it even though I editted it down to 58min ( I even tried 50min) it kept burning it slightly less than HQ and filing up only 67% of the disk. No answers I got worked so I tried the loop function and clicked redure loop, also I burned it in bluray then in dvd architect rerendered it to dvd. this took an extra 5 hours. I also made 5 menus with music extra. everthing worked (the burned disk is in HQ- GREAT) BUT the movie ends 2 seconds early. The words "THE END" are just starting to come on and it shuts off.
Question- when I rerender from movie studio 11 Can I somehow use the menus from the saved architect file ( which took me hours to create) I resized picture buttons and everything??

I'm glad to hear that Glenn. The learning curve can be daunting at the beginning but the results will be worth it.

I use DVD Architect Pro but the same rules "should" apply.

Remember to save it under a new name BEFORE you start playing around just in case you accidentally hit SAVE.
You don;t want to overwrite the project that you put so much work into :)

Double-click the PLAY button on the menu on the left hand side of the screen so that your video is showing in the middle screen.
On the Media Properties menu on the right hand side, click the Track Media button (shown below).
Click at the far right of the name of the video file (you should see a small arrow there), select Replace in the drop down menu,browse to the new file location and click on it.
Repeat this process for the audio file.
If the video is longer or shorter, you'll have to adjust the out points to match the new length.
This assumes that you only have a single video and menu.
If it's more complicated, you'll have to repeat this process as many times as needed.
