I added widescreen bars to the image, but when I add a cross disolve or make a transition it covers the entire widescreen bars and image. How can I made it transition on just the image and leave the widescreen bars alone?

Thanks

If its a filter/plugin you use to make your widescreen bars, drop
it instead on the entire video track itself, instead of the video
clips. Or drag it unto the preview window which would
make it cover all the tracks.

The question is why are you making Widescreen Bars? There is no need to ever do this. If your content is widescreen but you need to deliver it in standard 4:3 ratio, you do this at rendering time, not editing time. That's your problem.

Change your project to widescreen and render to 4:3 and let Vegas add the widescreen bars for you. Then none of the transitions will ever have a chance to mess this up.

Are you trying to get a curtain effect like a movie in a screen?

Yes, I am adding widescreen as a effect for a music video. I change the various widescreen looks through out the video for spectacle. I also improve the compositions, because when I add the widescreen bars , I can adjust the image up or down to get a more cinematic look. Its a needed effect for my stuff. Im having trouble here.

What kinda of trouble are you still having?
Havent you read or tried any of the recommendations you were given?
However, you are still not fully and clearly explaining your workflow.

[Jeremiah Fox] " I am adding widescreen as a effect for a music video. I change the various widescreen looks through out the video for spectacle. "
Then you need to add the widescreen bars on a separate track so that they are not affected by any transitions. You can just use generated media to do this or make them in Photoshop and place them on a higher track.

Thanks for all the advice. I have premade widescreen bars I added on a higher track. The transitions work great. One other problem is now occurring. When I burn a DVD, there is a light white line where the actual footage widescreen bar ends which is in the middle of my pre made bars. Any idea what this is?

Unfortunately, I am unable to upload the image. It does not load in the upload box, however its just a light white line across the bars I pre made and added. Does anyone have any idea what can be done for this?

Without seeing a picture,my guess is that your pre-made bars are a different shade of black. Try a small soft edge border FX on your existing video to help it blend in better or change the shade of black of your pre-made bars.
