I recorded a 48kHz/24bit Stereo WAV file on my Zoom mic. It sounds wonderful when I play it back on the mic, in itunes, etc. But, when I drag it to my Vegas Pro 10e (32 and 64bit) timeline it looks like this

When I press play it peaks, skips, speeds up, and stops. I get the same thing when previewing the WAV from project media. Any ideas of how to prevent this from importing in such a messed up way?
On another note I'd like to give everyone involved with the Creative Cow Sony Vegas forum (especially Cow Leaders) a gigantic thank you. You guys are extremely helpful, nice, patient, and knowledgeable. 1000x thank you

Try setting the audio settings/specifications in Vegas to match that
particular audio you are having a problem with, then import it
on the timeline and lets know if it behaves the same way.

Yea, I agree with Steve, does your audio card support 48K/24-bit? If not, it could be that Vegas is needing to convert your audio to 48K/16-bit or 44K/16-bit on the fly and that's causing the stuttering. What is your project audio set to? What is your audio card capable of?

Thanks for the replies guys, I have a THX TruStudio PC Soundcard w/ Realtek HD Audio which does support 48K/24-bit. I tried matching the audio settings/specifications in Vegas Pro 10 to no avail. I imported it into Vegas 7 with no issues whatsoever. Why it won't work in 10 is still a mystery.

Thanks for the follow up Steve! yes! I got the audio working. I rendered the WAV as AIFF in Vegas 7 then imported the AIFF into Vegas 10 (to utilize the multicamera tool) and it came out perfect. I'm assuming that AIFF was the best choice for preserving quality since it's uncompressed like a WAV file, am I correct in this line of thinking?

Yes, AIFF files are uncompressed and comparable to the
Wave audio format. They were first initially designed for Macs.
Anyway, glad you found a work-a-round.

Hello,
I have the exact same problem:

.wav worked perfect in sony vegas 9, but total fail in Sony Movie Studio as described above.

It's the same computer, so it must be the software. All other things are the same.

Workarounds are fine, but how about a real solution? Anyone got any ideas?
