 | Video Track Level Effects Act on Lower Tracks As Well?
by James Dubendorf on May 18, 2012 at 1:12:14 pm |
Hello All,
A quick question: in Vegas Pro 11, it seems that effects applied at the video track level (i.e. levels change computer to studio rgb) apply both to all events on that track, as well as video events on all lower tracks.
Is there any way to apply fx at the track level that ONLY apply to all events on that track?
Thank you,
James

I'm pretty sure that would only happen if you've changed your compositing mode. Have you done that?

Mike,
I thought that as well, but all my tracks are set to source alpha, and no parent/child relationships! Struggling to diagnose this- in the past, I've never seen this behavior, and really don't know how I couldn't have seen it if it has been there before.
Not sure where else to look...
Thanks,
James

Ok, may have found it- when I change the sequence of the fx chain on the video track effects, it changes this behavior.
If the levels effects come after that composite effect in the chain, it alters all events on the lower tracks as well. Did not know that!

Oh, well that makes sense. Good thinking.

i have something a bit similar. i ve needed a small wmv preview file with lower bitrate and so i rendered.
two tracks: video and lower third above it. when i render wmv in good rendering mode i can see through the lower third although i know it is not transparent and compositing is source alpha. when i render it in best it is ok. i know that graphics are rendered differently in best mode but it is not an excuse to make things transparent when they are not.
sony vegas goes worse and worse. i ve got enough of it. with each version it does sth that i don't expect it to do. i am not a hype-proffesional but i worked with editing a bit and generally speaking i know what ia m doing. sony vegas step by step keeps desapointing me.
