 | Vegas 11 Can't Produce Reverse Motion Clips
by Ken Bennett on May 14, 2012 at 11:15:28 pm |
I also just found out the V11 can't do reverse motions either. When rendered out they are very jittery and unusable. And slow motions are no where near the quality of V10e.
So, once again, I find V11 is not ready for PrimeTime. Whereas V10e is.

All we can do is keep sending messages directly to Sony reporting bugs. They've probably been bombarded by now, but keep doing it.
Next, buy a major share of stock in Sony, try to get on their board of directors, and get in a team that makes working software.

You've got to be kidding!
You are really having some nagging problems with Vegas 11.

Yes. No problems with V10e. V11 just can't do some of what I do everyday (yet).

I Installed Vegas 11 and nothing as you mentioned,
Have you installed any codec packs, updates or anything for that
matter recently....Something on your system is giving these hiccups,
Vegas has issues, but not those.

My only guess is maybe the settings are different somewhere. I tested the same clip and it's night & day between 10e and 11 on these issues. I need to hit Douglas Spotted Eagle on the head and drag him over here and review my entire system. He lives only a few miles from here. This is why I always wait before using new updates. Seems right after they come out there is something just not right.
John, you're welcome to poke your head under the hood of my computer.
This is my NLE computer so I don't install much other than undates.

Oh, I don't have this problem either. There's just nothing that's ever mystifying about someone posting a bug that I haven't experienced on Vegas 11-there's more than a preponderance of evidence that Sony messed it up.

Aleksey has a good point. Try it with GPU acceleration turned off on the timeline. i.e., Options | Preferences | Video and change GPU acceleration of video processing to Off then restart Vegas Pro. I have an NVIDIA Quadro 4000 and I'm not having any problems with GPU acceleration. If you have a game care (i.e., GeForce) your experience may be different.

I turned off the GPU and it came out cleaner. I have a GeForce GTX450 and would like a system rebuild review that may include a Q4000. I have a Supermicro MOBO that is probably at it's limits. So I'm looking for suggestions for a computer rebuild to maximize Vegas's power and include analog I/O with HD display output.

[Ken Bennett] "So I'm looking for suggestions for a computer rebuild to maximize Vegas's power and include analog I/O with HD display output." Take a look at: Videoguys' DIY9: It's Time for Sandy Bridge-E. This is a nice Hex Core workstation that I'm thinking of building. When I was at NAB, Sony was using AJA Cards in their demo workstation. I assume it's because they work best with Vegas so I'd look at AJA for IO options.

If I have to turn off the GPU, doesn't that defeat one of the main features V11 offers? If V11 can't handle slow-mo and reverse motion, why upgrade? I'm just asking, because if that is the case, V11 and my GPU card serve no benefits. Enlighten me.

[Ken Bennett] "If I have to turn off the GPU, doesn't that defeat one of the main features V11 offers?" No, I just was recommending it to see if the problem was with your graphics card.
[Ken Bennett] "If V11 can't handle slow-mo and reverse motion, why upgrade? I'm just asking, because if that is the case, V11 and my GPU card serve no benefits. Enlighten me." Vegas Pro 11.0 works fine using the GPU for slow-mo and reverse motion on my workstation with an NVIDIA Quadro 4000 graphics card. I'm getting an incredible improvement in MP4 rendering and I'm lovin' it.

So are you saying my GTX450 card doesn't quite make it with V11? Which brings me back to my computer upgrade question where I'd like to get a Q4000 in the process. So I'm still looking for suggestions to new MOBO, CPUs, memory and HD output to HD monitor... and analog I/O.

[Ken Bennett] "So are you saying my GTX450 card doesn't quite make it with V11?" I'm saying that your GTX450 is designed to play video games, not do serious graphics work. The drivers are tested with video games, not with professional graphics software. Adobe doesn't even let you use GeForce cards except for one model (but you can get around that). Sony has been more generous in their support but the GeForce cards and not always made to NVIDIA's specs so a GTX450 from one manufacturer may work better or worse than a GTX450 from another.

I believe that because I happened to get this GTX450 from MSI and it's been replaced 3 times within the first year. Will not buy a card from them again. So, a Q4000 card is on my shopping list with my rebuild.
So my search for a new MOBO, analog I/O support and HD output for a super Vegas station goes on.
