Has anyone had problems with Nero and DVDA?
I never had problems burning from DVDA until I installed NeroBurning ROM 11. Now DVDA won't burn and instead says it is writing the lead-in, then hangs. Only way out is with task manager to stop and unload it... then looking at windows explorer I see the DVD drive has disappeared.
Only thing I can see is different to the last sucessful burn session is Nero install, hence my question... has anyone else experienced it?

Sorry, i use neither, but Nero was once good, but now has
turned into a bloated animal... Ashampoo Burning Studio is
what i use for replacing Nero, Wonderful piece of tool.
I dont stay with software that gives me too much trouble.
...Check it out...

I agree with Steve. Nero is an intrusive piece of software that takes over your PC and should NEVER be installed on a video editing workstation.

I had problems with Nero back around version 7 or 8. It took over my DV filters and caused Boris RED not to be able to load any DV footage. I uninstalled Nero and RED works, I re-installed Nero and RED stopped working. I tested this on both my desktop and laptop and it was definitely Nero that was causing this. Using GSPOT I could see that Nero had inserted a DirectX Filter into my PC's chain of processors for DV footage. I even tried installing JUST the Burning ROM and no other utility and it still did this (and it had no business messing with my video filters just to install a CD burner program).

Nero 6 was the last time I recommended Nero to anyone and now I recommend that you AVOID IT LIKE A VIRUS!!! I use ImgBurn and BurnAware Free for all of my disc burning needs and they work like Nero used to.

Thanks Steve and John. I do have Ashampoo (two licences), but uninstalled it when odd things happened that later turned out to be a dud drive. That was when I bought Nero. Last night I scrapped Nero and re-installed Ashampoo on one machine, and tonight will install on the edit machine after getting all of Nero off it.
I only had burning ROM, but the interface is anything but easy to follow... Nothing like the older original versions.

[Phil Seymour] "Nothing like the older original versions."
Yea they have gone astray and landed in the weeds I'm afraid. Not the program it use to be unfortunately.

Why these software companies always push their great tools
into bloatwares is unbelievable.

Yea, in the case of Nero, it's their installer that is at fault. If you just select to install the Burning ROM it still installs video filters which it has has no business doing if your not installing the other multi-media components.
