Hi, I got no reply to a post I made 5+ days ago. Is it right to re-post?

Here's the link:
http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/947435

Here's the content:

I set Project Properties' Ruler tab to Measures & Beats. On my top video track I right-clicked and selected Insert Empty Event. I right-clicked the event and selected Media FX. I selected Sony Timecode. I was disappointed to find the Timecode Format options include all the ruler's options except Measures & Beats.

Q#1: Is there a plug-in for that?

Q#2: Can I create a custom format? I really want SS:PP:MM:BB (section: phrase: measure: beat) - or PP:MM:BB, or if that's not possible, then MM:BB. I'm not a programmer, but can I edit the Sony Timecode FX file? Using Notepad?

I searched the help index and the internet, read articles and watched videos for over an hour, but found no relevant answers.

(I'm using Vegas Pro 9.0c.)

Thanks

Q#1. Not that I've ever heard of.

Q#2. Time code was designed to count frames of video, nothing else.
What you want "might" be able to be done through scripting but I'm not a scripting guru so hopefully someone who is can chime in here and say if it's feasible or not.

Per Murray's question, Why would I use beats, measures, etc?
I'm making videos to help people learn choreography. Ultimately I want them to be dancing to the music, not to counts, but if a section of the dance and/or music is complicated and unusual, it helps if they can clearly correlate music, moves and counts. I also give that information in a spreadsheet, and I can do voiceovers, but it helps if they have a visual reference within the video.

Any coders/scripters care to make this possible?

Thanks.

Try Text Generation Wizard from Vegasaur toolkit.
It can generate text events in MM:BB format (select Counter option on the first page and the desired text template)

Hope this helps

Thank you! Excellent!
I don't know why it's not possible within Vegas, but I'm glad people supplement Vegas with toolkits like Vegasaur.
