Device Error on sd footage only?

Hi,

I have Vegas 8.0C and a Canon XHA1 which captures HD footage fine, but not regular DV footage, it returns Device Error.

I think this is something obvious, but playing with eettings and searching posts I haven't found an answer. Can anyone assist?
