hi, i have a z7 and will be using the cf card to record hdv. my laptop does not have 1394 so will use usb (via card reader) to transfer footage to the hd. my query is that there seems to be a lot of issues mentioned around the losing of 0.5s audio at end of each clip to do with the 4gb file limit??? is there a work around to this? ive seen some "clipstitch" software but this only seems to be for macs...as im NOT connecting directly to the Camera CF unit via 1394 im presuming i will just use explorer to drop and drag the clips...hence the worry i might have this problem.....

Depends on the CF recorder. I use a DataVideo DN60 recorder and have formatted it with NTFS, which gets me over the 4GB limit. I do need to finalise the files before pulling them off the card which joins them properly. You will find that many CF recorders will not support a 1394 connection to your PC, so you have to use a reader. Make sure it is a USB 2.0 reader, or be prepared for s-l-o-w copy times.
