I downloaded some lower thirds from Videoblocks and when I drop them on the timeline above of my video clip, there is a black background that shows up with the lower third. How do I get rid of this black background? I'm using Sony Vegas 10.

Happy Easter to you all.

Thanks

Right-click the event, select Properties - Media and change the Alpha channel to Straight (unmatted).

I forgot to mention that if Straight (unmatted) doesn't work, try one of the other options.

Mike,
Straight (unmatted) worked great--thanks so much.

Another question maybe you can help me with--the clips I'm downloading from Videoblocks are downloaded as Quicktime files. Some show up properly in Vegas and some are just black. They do play in the Quicktime viewer. Any idea why some of the clips are black?

Thanks
Dave P.

Dave, glad that method worked for you.
As far as some QuickTime files not working, all I can suggest is that you might need a newer version of it. What version do you currently have? What does Movie Inspector say about the file (QuickTime player - Window - Show Movie Inspector)?

I was using an older computer with Vegas 7 and 9 on it (32bit). The Quicktime files worked in 7, but not 9??? The important thing is that the Quicktime files do work on my main editing computer where I'm running Vegas 10.

Thanks for you help :)

Thanks

Also at the same time, make sure you have the latest
version of Quicktime installed.

Steve--thanks for the suggestion. I checked and I did have the most current version of Quicktime installed. Just kind of baffles me as to why the clips show up in Vegas 7, but not Vegas 9.

Thanks

[Dave Petteruto] "The Quicktime files worked in 7, but not 9???"

There was a QuickTime bug in Pro 9 that was resolved in 9.0d so make sure you're running that one or the latest version (9.0e).
