Hi.
Ive had this problem for a while now on Vegas 10 pro with numerous edits. When using the soft contrast video fx on some clips I get a really annoying flicker across the top of the image. If I remove the effect it goes. Its also on the rendered project too. Any ideas?

Advanced thanks if you can help.

Shaun

Without seeing a screenshot, my guess is that the problem images have some sky or other bright section in the shot.
When I apply that filter (any preset) to any event, it stretches the image luminance range way beyond the allowable limits of 16-235.
My recommendation would be to drop a Secondary Color Corrector FX using the "Computer RGB to Studio RGB" preset after the Soft Contrast FX on the problem events.
That should help smooth things out.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your advice.
Your right in that it will always occur on an image with bright skyline or white wedding dress etc. I'll try to upload a short clip.
Unfortunately, the secondary colour corrector didn't work.

test clip

Thanks again

Shaun

Shaun, that is nasty.
If you could upload that short clip (in it's original format please) to a site like Dropbox or YouSendIt, I'd be happy to play with it and see if I can I find a way to improve it.

By original format do you mean the raw vegas edit (.veg file?)

Thanks

I mean the video itself, be it AVI, MOV, MP4, etc.

It's been a while since I've used that program but they should give you a link (good for 7 days, as I recall) that you post here for us to download.
