I recently upgraded to sony vegas pro 10 and sine then my computer has been struggle to cope when vegas is open.

Opening another folder or file whilevegas pro 10 is open causes vegas to stop responding resulting in a task mangaer forced closure.

This happens every time i open vegas and use other functions on my computer.

I have removed waveforms, and video frames to save some prcessing power but this does not seem to help.

I am considering the following
1. Making my computer faster by changing components.
2. Adding a new hard drive to my desktop with windows 7(64bit) loaded on and only vegas and all my media files.

Specs for my desktop are below do you think it is a computer problem or a vegas problem, please can you help my productivity time is wasting away with all these forced shuts downs.

I have my own media company and it this is what i have to put up with i might just consider going to adobe premier.

I don't see your computer specs in your post but here are mine on the PC Equipment page of my web site for an old QuadCore that runs Vegas Pro 10 just fine. A new Core i7 would run even better.

Hi John, thanks for your response always, when i had a look at your specs my computer is way ok, I was so confused, then i heard something which got me thinking.

The church I go to I have also trained them on vegas and they have just upgraded to pro 10 also, they were having a download issue which was sorted out. They phoned sony SA and the technician asked them what anti virus software they were using, they said AVG.

So I decided to remove AVG from my desktop and vegas works 100% i have just finished a multi-camera project with no hassles.

I noticed that AVG has lots running in the background and takes up lots of process space, it had at least 10 things running when i looked in Task Manager under Processes.

I really hope this information helps others who i have noticed have had similar, "Not Reponding", and other hanging problems.

I just dont have an anti-virus on my desktop know so need to look into that.

I have Free Avira on my laptop and i have vegas 7 on it and have had no hassles so might give that a try, do you recommend ay free antivirus programmes

I'm running MS's excellent Security Essentials, free. I've not had any issues with 10 and Win 7 with it. At least none I'm aware of.

I run AVG Free on all of my computers... have been for years. I've never had a problem like that. Perhaps the paid for version has lots more stuff loading. This is why some people take their editing workstation off of the internet and don't run any anti-virus. Anti-virus has been the cause of numerous problems over the years.

(Yes! All Drivers and Bios have been updated. Everything is on Clean Full Install.)

I'm having issues with Sony Vegas Pro 10 64 Bit on Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.

Sony Vegas Pro 10 64 bit freezes during Multi-cam editing or while removing audio plug-ins. It will lock and freeze every time while previewing video in external full view mode.

I have swapped drives and OS for XP Pro SP3 32 bit and installed Sony Vegas Pro 10 32 bit and it runs flawless. Only issues with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Also tried installing Sony Vegas Pro 10 (32 BIT) on Windows 7 and get the same exact crashes and errors.

My system specs are as follows.

My System Specs are as follow. Used for both XP Pro and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

(Full Clean Install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. All drivers updated.
(Full Clean Install for Sony Vegas Pro 10 64 Bit) Version A.

System Specs

-Intel Core I-5 760 2.8ghz
-8GB of DDR3 Rip Jaw Ram
-Intel Motherboard DH55HC (Chip set and Bios updated)
-nVidia 8800GTS 640mb Video card (updated with 64 bit drivers)
-Creative Labs SB X-FI Sound Blaster Audio card (updated with 64 bit drivers)
-500GB Western Digital 7200 rpm system drive
-1TB G-RAID on Firewire 800 for Video capture and access
-3 Additional 10K RPM Western Digital Raptors
-Dual 21" Samsung SyncMaster 2253 Monitors running at 1680x1050 resolution.
-Logitech Editing Keyboard Model (KU-0108)
-Shuttle Pro 2 (updated drivers)

Sony Vegas Pro 10 32 bit works flawless on XP Pro SP3 OS.
Sony Vegas Pro 10 (32) or (64 bit) crashes and Freezes and is unstable on Windows 7 Pro 64 BIT.
