I am going to be working with green screen alot in my next project and i was wondering are there any better ways to chromo keyer becaus in vegas i still get that very faint green all around the person.
i use 2 effects to chromo keyer first i use chromo blur and then i use chromo keyer.
Are there any other effects in vegas pro 10 that i can use to get a cleared cut outline of a person.
is there an extra plugin i use that worls woth vegas.

Also i know this may sound very stupid but i will ask it anyway.
i am still using Windows XP. i have 4GIG of RAM but obviosly XP only sees 2 that is why i am thinking of changing to window 7. Currently i am running XP 32bit can i change to Windows 64bit and still use vegas pro 10 32bit or do i have change vegas also. please advise

The Vegas chroma keyer is old technology and works well if you light your scene properly but doesn't do as good a job on less than ideal conditions or where there is spill involved.

NewBlue FX has a really nice chroma keyer that plugs into Vegas. I would give this a look.

As for Windows 7 64-bit... yes you can continue to use 32-bit Vegas as well as the 64-bit version.

You have to buy Video Essentials II but the other plug-ins are awesome too so it's well worth the money.

I am currently running vegas pro 10 just upgraded from vegas 7, a big jump i see, not just in the look and feel but also my computer is feeling the extra processing power needed to run pro 10. It seems when i am in vegas pro 10 working on a project if i move away and open a folder or media player vegas stops responding and i have to go to task manager to close it down .

I would focus your money and attention on lighting the green screen properly. You'll get better and faster results no matter what your plans are for chroma-keying.

I have to agree with Bill here, if you light the set just right, with plenty of space between your subject and the greenscreen as well as good back lighting, Properly white balance your camera before the shoot "In the set you'll be shooting in". As long as you don't show feet and need shadows, the Vegas chromakeyer wcan do a pretty good job. But the lighting has to be right so you have no spill, or it's useless. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

This was done with Adobe Ultra and Sony Vegas.

Checkout Boris Red or Boris BCC for trial period. They have the best keying techology that's out here. I have After Effect,Combustion,Ultra Keyer,Boris BCC and Boris Red. All in all Boris Red and BCC did the best and fasted job. With one click step.
