I have a client who want me to shootthere wedding in HD and at the same time taken stills from the vegas timeline to print to go in there wedding book. How do you ensure that the final image is good for print?

Make sure your project properties match your source footage, set your Project Properties to Progressive, set your Preview window to Best/Full, take a snapshot and save it in PNG format.
Try printing a few pictures from some sample footage (you do have other weddings or similar footage, right?) and see what the client thinks.

Bernard, make sure to get some sample pix from video that is less than perfect quality (i.e. low light situations and shots with a lot of movement in them) as this is where a still camera will prove it's worth.
IMO, the client needs to be understand that a video camera shoots video and a still camera shoots stills and the two should not be considered interchangeable, especially for something as important as a wedding.

I do this all the time for DVD covers, one trick is if you have Photoshop take the png file into that use the video filter to deinterlace the pic, use a small about of noise reduction "de-speckle" I think. That usually makes things useable. I will also change the files size in inches, making it half the size and almost doubling the dpi..this helps with some of the quality issue...if you do not have photoshop.....I'm not sure, hope this helps!

I also do this, and the process already given is right. I must say, I think you will struggle to get great prints. The images are fantastic in a digital pic frame though. Martin

I agree with the others. This is NOT a way to get wedding pictures for an album. As others have pointed out, the images will be far too low resolution (2MP) to blow up for a wedding album. Mike has the right idea... create some still images from a previous wedding and show it to the bride and groom and see what they think. It should convince them to hire a photographer.

No matter how you slice it, a video camera will produce a still image which, at best, is about 2 megapixels. That's not very impressive today. It can produce 4x6 prints, but not much more than that. Also, don't think that you can crop the image. There simply is not enough in the image to support crops.
