Credit roll jitter
by Bob Mark on Nov 2, 2009 at 5:05:41 pm

I am rendering progressive footage to a progressive SD DVD. The credit roll show a little bit of jitter.
Could that be the DVD player or something else? I did a two pass render at a high data rate. The video looks great and so do the static titles, but the roll have a bit of jitter and blur. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Bob

If you right click, in one of the options choose "reducing interlace flicker" that has helped me in the past!

Try speeding it up or slow it down. I've agonized over jittery credit rolls in the past and usually changing the speed has helped.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I had reduce flicker selected.
I can't really change the speed because it is in the middle of the program and has a specific run time to match the vo.

Thx.

Try adding a Gaussian Blur at about 0.002 and see if that smooths it out.

Make sure your project is set to "Best" and not just "good." Also, I have used a different and/or larger font to help with the jitter. If you have a sharpen filter on, it will also cause some as well. I used the new sharpen feature in 9, and it did add a little jitter.

Thanks for the suggestions. I reset the titler and did a prerender of that area. The roll looks pretty smooth now, but it looks soft.
I'm rendering HD footage to a SD DVD. On the computer it looks good, but the roll on a 40" HD screen looks kind of blurry. Maybe it's a interlaced DVD player playing a progressive DVD that is causing that?

Thanks.
