Preview issue
by Dustin Weigele on Nov 2, 2009 at 7:06:22 am

I am new to using Vegas 7.
I imported a video from my project media into the timeline above. The video showed up perfectly along with the sound clip below it. However when I click to play the clip it only plays sound with no video in the preview box. I have looked everywhere for a solution and cannot find one. I know it is not a codec issue because if I transfer the video clip to my trimmer it plays fine in the preview player. If someone has s solution please let me know.

Make sure you haven't "Muted" the Video Track or reduced the Levels. Both of these Controls are found in the Track Header.

If this doesn't cure your "issue" then get back here.

No the level is at 100%. When the video is played it has sound in the timeline but does not produce video in the preview player. However if you drag and drop the clip in the trimmer tab it shows the clip with sound and video perfectly fine. I think there is a problem with getting the preview player to play the video on the timeline.

I am referring to the Video "Level". Is that correctly set? I understood about the Audio - loud and clear.

Make sure you didn't accidentally enable the Split Screen View icon (top left of the Preview window), specifically if you selected Clipboard and Select All, as it will give exactly the behaviour you're describing.
