When Sony released Vegas 8.1, the 64 bit version of Vegas, I built a new PC, quad processor, 8 gig ram, Vista profession 64 OS. Vegas 8.1 had problems and I quickly backtracked and used the 32 bit Vegas 8. I have since updraded to vegas 9a and now vegas 9b. I appreciate the 8 gigs of ram possible with 64 bit OS and have no regrets about the Vista OS install. But what about the 64 bit Sony Vegas software? Though Vegas 9a offered both 32 and 64 bit versions, Vegas 9b only offered 32 bit version. Is the 64 bit Vegas software on the backburner? Was Vegas 9a 64 bit stable? What is my best Vegas software option today?

I'm new to Sony Vegas, but went straight with 64bit V9.0 then upgraded to 9.0a. I did not even realize they did not make 9.0b for 64bit.
I've read that there are sometimes issues that effect the 32bit version of Vegas that Sony corrected in the 64bit version, it may be that is the case with the type of fixes in 9.0b..
IMHO, even if it is a lesser of a priority for them, the forward trend of technology will force them to continue and improve 64bit support. More and more RAM being added to systems, the really have no choice if they want to continue to sell a product the way I see it.
