Vegas 6.0d Build210. I imported a video from a DVD disk and all of the files were saved as .mpg (mpeg). When I try to bring a file to the Vegas timeline I get this error message: "The file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized."

Did you import them with File | Import | DVD Camcorder Disc...? Can you play the MPG files outside of Vegas? It sounds like maybe something got corrupt in your Vegas install. It might be worth re-installing Vegas 6 just to make sure all of the software is installed correctly.

This is a DVD I mastered in DVD Architect and had made from a glass master. (I lost the original files so need to get the program files off the DVD).
Yes, I did import the program with File | Import | DVD Camcorder Disc, which took about 3 hours. It didn't import directly into Vegas but asked to save to a directory, which I did.
No, the files won't play with any program because each file, like "VTS_06_1 (01)", is only 1KB, so something is amiss. I'm importing again right now and will see what I get this time.

Brilliant, Mike. A quick, simple, elegant solution. Shrink did, however, save the DVD as 47 VOB files, not one big one. But that's great in this case because I need to work on the files one at a time anyway. Thanks so much.
