How do I work the Bitrate Calculator?
by Norman Willis on Aug 14, 2009 at 7:46:47 pm

Um, er, I unzipped "Mark's Bitrate Calculator" (thanks, Mike!), and I am staring at it. Is it made for Video uploads?

I have a 9 minute 24 second video I need to upload to Amazon.com. Their upload specs read as follows:
Maximum file size: 100MB.
Maximum length: 10 mins
Accepted formats: avi, flv, mov, mpg, wmv

I assume H.264 will work, as it is a type of flv. The original project is AVCHD, with Cineform transcode, 1920 x 1080 HD at 30p. WHat settings should I render at, in order to get a file size just under 100 MB? I was thinking to use Sony AVC, Internet SD 30p.

Thanks!

Sorry Norman but this calculator is designed to determine optimum MPEG-2 encoding settings when you're trying to fit a video over (approx.) 70 min. on a single layer DVD.
I've never done any encoding for the web so someone else who knows better will have to jump in.
