Need help!
by Paul Gilmore on Jul 2, 2009 at 11:04:38 pm

I just rendered this video QT and posted it on my website.

In the timeline it looked great... but now it looks like this

It would be helpful if you could tell us what the problem was.

That's why I posted the link to the video with my question.

I couldn't explain it so click on the link and you will see it.
thanks!

As John said - what do you think is wrong?

The biggest problem I saw was interlacing artifacts. When you do the final encode, make sure it's progressive.

Watch the demo as they walk or look at eahcother. The slow motion effect looks strange or choppy.. i dunno what the word is to explain it. It;s not smooth as it should be

Ok try this link 2 problems.

1. I rendered it in QT and the video is stretched out, and 2. some of the picture looks odd like some kind of digital interference etc.
This is a shorter video of just those parts

lol, I thought the problem was that the flash transition bloomed outside the letterbox which screams that the letterbox is fake because nothing should affect it.

Yea, the interlacing is a problem. It is especially noticeable on the black & white shot by the fountain. You need to render progressive to get rid of that.

As for the choppiness on the slow motion, what frame rate did you start with and how much are you slowing it down? There is only so much that can be done before you run out of information to make the frames look smooth. Did you try using SuperSampling?

I've been using Vegas pro since 6 came out and I have never had a problem like this before. I used the exact same settings

Frame Rate 29.970 (NTSC)
Render rate QT7 1Mpps Video

The slo mo varies for each scene some are super slow others are minimal
Like I said I have NEVER had a problem before pro9

It is possible that version 9 does things differently and has affected previous behavior. I would email Sony about it and see what they say.
