Wrong aspect ratio when imported??

Hello.
I captures video with Panasonic SDR-S7.
704x576 MPEG-2 16:9 wide.
When I import these clips to Vegas(Platinum 9) the program squishes the format.
I have chose output PAL DV wide.
When I look at properties for the clips the aspect ratio is 1,0909. Lower then normal 4:3??
If I change them to DV Wide (1,4568) the clips look normal.
But why does Vegas not recognize my clips in right format??
and is ther any solution to the problem??
Pardon my not perfect english ----> Im from sweden.
