Aspect Ratio and Video Formats

	Aspect Ratio and Video Formats by Toofan Khan Rahime on Apr 6, 2009 at 12:38:59 pm Hi First of all thanks for the help in my previous thread really appreciate it ! There is a couple of more issues I was seeking help for.. first of all the project I am working on was transferred from a mini DV, about 5 minutes of these clips were recorded on different aspect ratio on the camera, I believe the setting was 14:9 (widescreen) the rest of the project is 4:3, now on the time line that 5 min clip looks odd campared to other clips the letter box on the top covering more area on the screen (where as for the rest of the clips there is no letter box on the top. Also the video is stretched .. is there a way to fix this, I tried searching on google and couldn't find a solution.. the weather conditions are changed on this part of the world and really can't go back and shoot it so any one with any solution please let me know ! Also while rendering since the time line is getting to lengthy so I decided to render some videos that are completely edited and then import back in the final time line.. I would like to mention here that this project is to be burnt on DVD which will be projected in big screen, do I don't want to lose the quality of the video.. when I tried rendering using AVI format the file size came out over 2 GB for 2 mins, this is too big as our project is about 2 hours so I am looking for some suggestions which best format to choose with reasonable space, I want the video to be in the best of quality please help ! 	Re: Aspect Ratio and Video Formats by John Rofrano on Apr 6, 2009 at 7:25:13 pm Your best bet would be to crop the 16:9 media to 4:3 aspect. To do this, make sure the project is set to DV 4:3 and then open Pan/Crop on the 16:9 event and right-click and select Match Output Aspect. this will crop the media to match the 4:3 aspect of your project. 	Re: Aspect Ratio and Video Formats by Toofan Khan Rahime on Apr 7, 2009 at 4:47:57 am Hi John ! thanks for the solution .. worked smoothly even though it was zoomed a bit since pan/crop works in square so I lose some area on the sides and have to cut clips to make it centered a little hassle but gets the job done !
