Help! DVD Architect problems with a dual layer burn

I've been using Vegas for several years, and I'm trying to burn my first dual layer project using DVD Architect 4.5c. I attempted to burn my first +R DL disk (a Verbatim disk)...Architect recognized it correctly, and suggested a layer break point. Although my maximum burn speed with my Philips DVD8701 is rated at 8X using +R DL media, I cautiously burned at 4X. The entire procedure went through with no error messages of any kind. However, the disk will not play in any of 3 commercial players I've tested it on--instead, it will always hang in a loading mode forever, until I eject it.
I've done a lot of searching in this forum and elsewhere. Although I've seen other posters describe issues with DL burning, they always involed some kind of error message during the procedure. I had no error messages, and in fact the disk will play on my Dell (just not on a commercial player).
I really need to finish this project within the next two weeks (I've been working on it for about 8 months!). This is my last major hurdle to jump through. If you can possibly suggest a remedy, please do.

The fact that it plays correctly on your computer means the
disc was burned correctly...the problem is that the players
you placed it in did not play it. So i would suggest follow
the same procedure using at least two other brands etc. of
blank DVD....And see if the result is the same with each player.

First, thanks for responding so quickly.
I have an update and a slight correction to my previous post:
The correction: I should have mentioned that the disk does play on my PC, however, it does not auto play in it. I have to manually invoke a Play command to launch a player (such as Windows Media Player).
The update: I followed a suggestion to download a free copy of "ImgBurn", which I then used to access the VIDEO_TS folder that Architect prepared. It flawlessly burned a copy of my disk to a Verbatim disk from the same batch, even allowing me to select and preview where I wanted the layer break to occur. This disk works perfectly in every player I've placed it in.
Now, I'm aware that none of this is conclusive in terms of the cause of the original failure. I think it may be possible that I had a bad disk (although many people have commented that they have had excellent results with Verbatims, which is why I chose them). But I continue to wonder why I never received any errors from Architect during the burn process. So in my mind, the jury is still out as to whether or not Architect does have a bug that inhibits consistent, accurate burning of dual layer DVDs. Of course, I could continue to try to burn more dual layer disks with Architect, but you can understand why I hate to spend a lot of money on multiple DL disks in such an experiment.
Any input to this situation would be of interest to me from other readers out there.

Another update: I decided to bite the bullet, and I attempted one more burn with DVD Architect on another of my dual layer Verbatim disks. I only made one change in procedure from the last time--I slowed the burn rate down from 4X to 2.4X. Again, the burn completed without an error. And again, the disk locks up in a "loading" loop when I place it into a player.
I took the next disk from the spindle and repeated my procedure of burning it using ImgBurn from the VIDEO_TS folder created by Architect. The burn completed without incident, and the disk plays perfectly.
I think it's increasingly apparent that there is a bug in DVD Architect 4.5 when burning to dual layer DVDs. Just my input for anyone else that might be confonting the same issue.

Hmm...doesn't look like that's a free upgrade to those of us using 4.5c. I tried downloading and installing it, and it wants a completely different serial number from the one I have.

Steve is right try another media. Verbatim has two places it manufactures their disks, India and Singapore. There is a known problem with the ones from India and I believe that they are no longer using them until the problem is fixed. They are a low quality disc for sure. Your computer is much more capable at reading a disc with errors than and DVD player. I recently had 8 out of 50 DVD'S fail to burn due to poor media. I was using TDK and I called them about it. Anyway I hope this helps.
