DVDA and UDF version for a BD-R
by Philip Hinkle on Oct 16, 2008 at 4:34:03 am

I am ready to burn a BD-R disc that was authored in DVDA. I used DVDA to create an iso image file. I now want to burn it to the BD-R. What UDF version is being used by DVDA for the bluray disc? I know in Nero if you burn from a folder structure it will let you select the UDF. The default UDF in Nero is 1.1 but if you select 2.5 or 2.6 in Nero it will play in more Bluray players and also the PS3. I want to make sure the disc burned from DVDA will play in PS3 but can't find how to control the UDF version.

Anyone know the version?

I'm not sure why you are asking this question. An iso file is a disc image and you can't change the UDF structure on it. When you go into Nero and select Burn Image there are no other options. It just takes the iso image and burns it sector by sector to disc.

OK...well if that is the case then what is the UDF version being created for the iso image file. What UDF is DVDA using to create the image with? I have a bluray disc to deliver but don't want to burn it till I am confident it will work on a customer's PS3. I was authoring/burning with Nero and version 1.1 and the disc wouldn't work in PS3 but when I used version 2.6 they worked in PS3. Most of my customers will have a PS3 and I need to know it will work in one if authored/burned from DVDA. I don't have one.
