sound problems when importing video into sony vegas 8.0 pro

hi, this may sound like a stupid post, but it's really bugging me, when i import video from my mini dv camera into sony vegas, the video imports fine, but the sound freezes at random points in the video, for an example, heres one of my videos that i did with vegas:
at certain points, it will freeze, for about a millisecond, then keep going.
is there something wrong with vegas, or is it my camera?
btw, my version of vegas isn't "legal"
any help appreciated

the thing is, it imported the video with the same quality of sound when i had the trial version, all i did was download a keygen, so there shouldnt be anything wrong with it...
