Importing a DVD into Vegas??
by Ray Sherman on Sep 19, 2008 at 9:18:27 pm

Hi,
I am currently trying to import a dvd that I have made in the past into Vegas Pro 8 in which I'm having one problem. The following is how I am importing the dvd;
File
Import
DVD Camcorder Disc
The disc that I am using "is not" from a camcorder it's a normal dvd-r disc that I have burned in the past.
The movie is importing fine and looks good. The problem I'm having is that the audio "does not" match with the video. I believe that the movie is Dolby 5.1 surround in which I'm placing it into a stereo formatted project. Is there anything that you can suggest in rectifying my problem? As always, your help would be most appreciated. Thank you, Ray

Hi,
I would like to add to my post that some of the audio is missing as well. Thanks, Ray

Try this. Import media, drop the type down and select any, all files. then point to the DVD and import the VOB files, and then save the project to your hard drive as Vegas will try to play the files from the DVD otherwise. As far as the 5.1 dolby audio, I am not sure if Vegas will decode an AC3 file into six seperate tracks. May need a AC3 decoder. Danny Hays
