Is that with Windows Vista i presume?
Vegas 8 has better integration with vista....and vegas 7
requirement is directx 9.oc
However, do a quick reinstall and see what happens.

Hey Jordan,
I posted this is another thread yesterday - Might be of help:
****
Hey Alex,
Not sure if restarting fixed your problem or not, but came across this on the internet - Basically some third party applications you can use to temporarily disable DirectX plugins that may be causing Vegas to crash on startup:
Managing DirectX plug-ins
DirectX plug-ins are registered and have specific path locations written to the registry. For this reason, you should manage DirectX plug-ins using a third-party plug-in manager application. Use one of the plug-in managers listed below to turn off DirectX plug-ins which fail to initialize, or which cause Adobe Audition to freeze at startup. For detailed instructions on how to use the plug-in manager refer to the website listed below and the program's user guide.

Hello Jordan,
Unfortunately we're both having the same problems. I'm using Windows XP Pro. You can't open Vegas 7 and I can't open Vegas8 Pro along with DVD Architect5. When I first received Vegas 8 I was able to open it and use it for a number of months until recently within the last few weeks. I had unistalled it and reinstalled it until I was blue in the face. I removed all my dowmloads from the computer, went back into the restore computer as far back as it let me, called Sony Tech support and went through a number of trial and error procedures until the tech was unable to help anymore. So I reinstalled Sony Vegas 7 and DVD Architect4 and to my surprise, it opened. So I can't figure out why Vegas8 Pro won't open. This is the message that pops up. (The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). All my other programs on my desktop open just fine. I'm not giving up yet. There has to be a solution to this mystery. I really don't want to do a clean sweep on my hard drive, but if I have to then I will.
Good Luck to you

Hi Jordan,
I've done what you said and with no success.
Still get the Application Error for both Vegas 8a and DVD Architect: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)
This time I got the icon on my desktop when I checked the box. The previous times I didn't. This is very strange, I reinstalled vegas7 and DVD architect 4 with no problem and can open both. I had Vegas8 Pro on my PC and have done some projects with it, played around with the Titler after viewing DSE training video. Now I can't open it at all. What a bummer :(
If anyone else has any ideas out there, let us no before I wipe out my whole C hard drive and reload everything.
Thanks Steve for your time in responding. I'm going to try the Sony Tech service again next week and see if they have any other suggestions.
