Vegas 9 Pro release date?
by Neil Vitale on Sep 1, 2008 at 3:20:30 am

Hello,

Im assuming this is an official Sony Vegas forum, so maybe someone can help out...

Anyone hear any rumblings on when Vegas 9 Pro would be released and what the price point might be?

Now that Adobe Premier Elements 7 supports HD, I'm going to be torn when I get a chance to try out both probgrams. Vegas 8 Pro has been super stable to me in trial mode, and I was considering a purchase soon. But now I'm wondering if I should just wait till 9.0 is released instead, or even head on over to the cheaper competition.

Also, a VEgas 8 question. Is there any way I can join video clips together into one huge file with no loss in image quality? They are AVCHD shot with a US Sony SR11

thanks

Sony hasn't even release Vegas Pro 8.0c yet which we've all been eagerly awaiting. Then at NAB they promised to release a 64-bit version of Vegas this year that will be a free upgrade to existing users so it is assumed that will also be Vegas Pro 8 based. As Steve said, I would not worry about Vegas Pro 9 coming any time soon. Buy Vegas Pro 8 and get to work. ;-)

No. Vegas Pro 8.0 will smart render HDV but not AVCHD. You need to find a tool that will join AVCHD files. A simple Google search should turn up a few free ones.
