Vegas 8b Quicktime sync problem
by Chris Young on Aug 28, 2008 at 6:08:05 pm

Hi All ~
Haven't done any for years but does anyone have the answer to exporting Quicktime files from Vegas 8b that will maintain lip sync? Running QT 7.5. I believe you had to have the Authoring Components installed as well? What's the go with getting these installed. Absolute disaster here trying to get sync'ed MOV files out. Any help much appreciated. Failing that is there any other decent app that can output QT files that will work with Vegas DV avi input files?

Cheers

I've never had any sync issues with Quicktime renders but you could always throw the DV AVI file into Quicktime Pro. That should work.

John ~
Thanks for suggestions. I think the last time I did any QT output was back with V6 and never had any problems. WMVs etc are fine it's just this QT sync issue. I thought the same as you, use QT Pro. Problem is this clients IT dept have laid down specific encoding specs which I can set in the Vegas QT plug in but can't set in the limited configs in QT Pro. Looks like I may have to use Sorenson. Spoils my Vegas workflow :-(

I really am losing the plot here. It was the early hours of the morning when I posted, a senior moment or blame brain fade as Ron Shook would say. It's not Quicktime I am having the problem with but the Main Concept MP4 H264 export, these are the exports losing audio sync. Any ideas?

Re: Vegas mp4 Main Concept sync problem

Well still haven't resolved the problem with mp4 Main Concept sync problems out of Vegas 8 but found an external solution. Puts out very nice mp4s plus a range of other configurable exports such as:

AVI (DivX, Xvid, DV, Direct Stream Copy, Uncompressed, Mjpeg)
MOV (Quicktime)
WMV (Zune, Windows Media)
MPG (Mpeg1, Mpeg2, Mpeg4, Mpeg VCD/SVCD/DVD)
MP4 (H264, AppleTV, iPod, iPhone, PSP)
3GP (Mobile phone)
FLV (Streaming Flash)
SWF (Flash Animation)

What's more there is an unlimited FREE version! Well worth looking at if you need these exports:
