Computer hangs during capture

Just wondering if this is a known issue?
I have been batch-capturing a large number of DV clips (+/- 150) off one tape, and find that the computer hangs during capture. Once this happens, I have to close the capture program and all clips captured that session are lost.
I solved the problem by capturing about 20 clips at a time, but it certainly is a problem. There is one tiny section of time code drop-out, but this isn't a problem when I capture the smaller number of clips - so why would it affect me when I'm batch capturing a large number.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I have Vegas Pro 8 and am operating on Windows Vista.
Many thanks,

Hi there again Bruce,
Unfortunately i have never really experienced the problem you
described.....So iam just relating some info....nowadays i use
"winDV" to do most captures. Yes winDV. It is an amazing little
tool that surprised me some years back when i started using it,
because i had problems with dropped frames and
some other issues from all other methods
and am still using it. This free little application does not hitch.
