I would like to know what the best settings to render footage in Vegas 8 are. I have shot the footage with a V1U - at 24p 1080i. I will be outputting to a regular dvd. I have tried various settings/codecs in vegas...and have noticed a difference in the quality of output. I do find it odd, that I am not getting widescreen output with some codecs, even if I select the widescreen option.
Basically I want a widescreen image, with the best possible output.

Basically....you need to first select a wide screen template in
the project properties fitting your desired output to begin with.
Then in 'event pan/crop' you right click to select the 'match
output aspect' to tidy up your editing.
By the way Gurm,Are you using Vegas Pro 8? ...In your previous post
you mentioned you could not get dvd architect 5 because you did not qualify for an update. When all is said and done i would endorse
what John actually recommended, to purchase Pro with Architect
instead of purchasing Sonic DVDit proHD or an alternative.

Right now I am rendering in avi..it seems when I use Mpeg2..architect won't accept the file.
I have tried the Sony YUV codec..the quality is amazing, but it's not widescreen. I will try the technique you mentioned in your previous post. Any other ideas?

Remember when you are rendering your projects to author them in
DVD Architect you should use one of the "DVD Architect video stream"
when rendering to mpeg2 (in your present case DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream)....Then render your audio separately.
Doing this facilitate better compatiblity and less compression when
being used in Architect.
