Re: Vegas 9 by Sukkhin Platon on Jun 29, 2008 at 3:40:39 pm
I have been playing around with the latest beta build of the upcoming release on one of my machines and here are a few of my favourite features...
The new 128bit version doubles the pixel information by dithering a dual 64bit core. How they did this without destroying its "all realtime, all the time" mission is beyond me. This pushes Vegas to the front of the pack for film work and you can expect to see it replace both Avid and FCP as Sony flexes its muscles in the film world.
That would be nice enough but the feature that really gets me excited is the new full 3D capability that allows users of tools like Maya, 3ds max, Lightwave and others to bring in and composite models directly in their editing projects.
Those are the two big features that excite me. There are many other features but these two should get users taste buds salivating.

I really cant believe what you are saying Sukkhin,Everything is a blur
to me right now....did you say Vegas 9 at beta stage.
Did you say 128 bit?
Did you say Model compositing from major 3d applications ?
Salivating is putting it way too mildly.

I am not interested in the 3D capabilities as I don't work in 3D animation but the colorspace and resolution enhancements are very interesting to me.
So they are building a 128bit system using a dual 64bit raster dithering algorithm? I've never heard of anything like this. Will it work? How is it in your experience, Sukkhin? If it really works, this opens up a way for Sony to pioneer 8K film resolution, something that neither Avid nor Autodesk have brought to market yet.
This made me glad that I never opted to go with a Mac and FCP.

I did see the following article that was recently posted at Cameratown.com. It appears that SONY is making VEGAS 9 available in August 2008. http://www.cameratown.com/news/news.cfm/hurl/id%7C5839

Yes, but that article doesn't mention either the 128bit capabilities or the 3D abilities. It mostly just gives an approximate release date, and little more than that.
Is anyone here at this site going to give us any additional information beyond what Sukkhin has given? Any beta team users what to bring out some of the other features?

Sukhin's post is pure BS. Start to finish.
Any beta tester stupid enough to mention even a release date...well...let's just say it's happened "once."

Hi Mike,
The title of the thread made no differentiation between Vegas Pro and Vegas Studio, all of which are good programs. The title of the thread should be updated to specify which Vegas program. I arrived at this thread when I did a Google search looking for Vegas.

Nah! What he was saying is that he went TO Vegas, then he beata the machine there. While he was dithering about he was playing around with a 2 bit virgin, 64 of them all the time in realtime which got him all excited which caused him to have an upcoming release with his buds.

Or he had 0bits of brain as the neck was red and its views are so closed as they dont get out even a bit to know the virgin bit as 64 of them are still missing 8bits.
