Dolby Rendering Question
by Franz Vorenkamp on Jun 22, 2008 at 9:37:53 am

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to render a final project I've been working on- I've spent hors and hours mixing the audio very carefully into 5.1 surround...

The question now is how do I render it?

Common sense says that there should be an option under the default MPEG-2 format to put the audio into AC-3... However, I do not see this option in the sound settings. I definitely have the AC-3 plugin as I can render just an audio track as such. However, I see no video/audio combo that supports surround sound.

Does anyone know what I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

Franz, AC-3 is a separate render.
Select "Dolby Digital AC-3" in the "Save as type:" dropdown box.
After that, select "5.1 Surround DVD" in the "Template" dropdown box.
Customize if necessary.
BTW, do not trust DVD Architect for accurate 5.1 playback.
Burn it to a DVD and check it on your sound system.

That's what I was guessing... But if not DVD Architect, then which program should I author the final disc in?

My apologies for the way I phrased my response.
DVD Architect is an excellent authoring tool to use for this purpose.
What I should have said was don't trust the audio playback in DVD Architect for accurate 5.1 audio reproduction.
