Anti Virus Software-What are you using?

Hello all,
I know this question has been asked in the past, but I wanted to get some updated thoughts. I have been using AVG (free), Spybot & Zonealarm with no problems at all. The other day I went to update AVG7 to AVG8, the install stopped & froze the machine. To make a long story short, the only way I could get what partial install of 8 was on my machine was to use an aftermarket software unistaller. Now I'm a bit leary of trying to load it again, so I 'm wondering if anyone out there is having good results with any other (preferably free) anti virus softwares.
Thanks & have a great weekend.

Hi,
I use Kerio as firewall, NOD32 as anitivir. These are working on my PC. Another thing helps my PC keep free from viruses: I don't use my PC with admin rights. I logon only as admin when it's absolutely necessary (installing, upgrading etc.).
If I get to clean someones infected PC, some additional programs help: spyware terminator, hijackthis, sophos anti-rootkit, and AVG, as it's free.

Hi
Currently I use AVG's internet security suite. I have a 3 pack workstation license so it's installed on my 2 desktops as well as on my laptop.
Personally I think with your configuration that Zone Alarm is yur problem. Also I'd be leary of Kerio firewall with AVG. Laszlo says above he uses Nod32 from Eset Software with Kerio. That probably works great. But be advised some software will conflict with other software so you got to be careful what you try with what.
I had conflict problems with Kerio and AVG free as well as other conflict problems with some of Sunbelt's other software combined with what I had at the time. Then AVG came out with the suites and I dumped them all for that one. Never had a problem or a conflict. AVG works sliently in the background and believe it or not has never affected Vegas. Even during a render.
Other software I use is Spybot Search and Destroy (free) and PC Tools Registry cleaner although I don't use it much.
Also mentioned above is never go on the internet as an administrator and the free program you'll want for this is from Amust Software called 1-defender. It's also free. It brings up your browser as a user and not as an administrator. You do have a choice on the start screen to open the browser as administrator if you know your going to install or upgrade something but that's the only time I go on unprotected. For example if you're going to update Windows from Microsoft you'll need to go on as administrator because 1-defender will prevent anyone from anyplace to install anything anywhere on your computer which protects you quite a bit.
