I just started working as an editor with a small produciton company which edits small ads for broadcast TV, both in SD and HD.
My problem right now id that I need to export my time line which is HD source video (shot in HD, format = H.264, Attributes: 1920x1080x24) to QuickTime DVCPRO HD (1080i) format.
When I select the above default settings in Vegas 8, the colors of the output video are much darker than what i see in the time line! I have tried playing with may parameters in the render/custom section, but no luck!

Where are you viewing the content? Only in Vegas? or in Windows Media Player or other external player? Gamma varies from player to player, which is in all likelihood causing the perceived shift in chroma value.

I'm viewing the content in Vegas video preview and other players such as Quicktime and Windows Media Player. As the content is rendering, it shows frame by frame what the output should look like and it's coming out darker than it should.
Is there any way to fix this problem? Unfortunately, switching to .m2t is not an option. The network requires the format to be .mov.

if you're seeing the render darker than it should be in Vegas preview, the problem is in your project settings (32bit, perhaps?) If it appears correctly in Vegas but not QT or WMP, the problem is in the gamma set up of your computer and/or player.
