Poor Playback Resolution on my TV
by Dennis Kitagawa on May 20, 2008 at 6:54:40 am

I'm having difficulty getting decent resolution (very fuzzy and not sharp) on the CD I created using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition. My photos are high resolution photo's. I rendered ("render as") using MPEG-2; I then burned the cd using VideoCD (but, only choice for format is MPEG-1); I tried MultimediaCD with MPEG-2. All to no avail. I have a 57" HDTV with a HD DVD player. What am I doing wrong in creating a high res slideshow? Frustrated.

Do you have a DVD burner?
You need to make a DVD, not a VCD.
Check out Vol. 1 Issue 7 of Edward Troxel's newsletters for the steps involved in doing this.
Please note that this is for the full version of Vegas. I'm not certain how many of these steps are directly applicable to Movie Studio.

~if you don't have a DVD burner, get one.
~edit your slideshow or video timeline
~insert DVD
~Tools | Burn disc | Burn MPEG 2 (If you're using VMS, use "Make Movie" and use the DVD templates)
~Set the bitrate as high as 8Mbps
~Burn

If your images are large, or if they're TIF files, expect a long burn time, because they'll absorb a lot of resources.
