Can NTSC HD video shot in 1080i at 30fps on MiniDV with a Sony HVRZ1U be captured into Vegas using a Sony HVR-HD1000U?
Are there any problem got-chas to watch for?

Nothing to watch for. Just capture. Then open a Vegas 30p HD project template using the HDV presets, done.
The 30p information is embedded in a 60i stream

Thanks for the reply. Please excuse my ignorance, but I feel the need to ask this.
The manual for the HVR-Z1U says it is 1080, 50i/60i/30F/25F record & playback capable.
The manual for the HVR-HD1000U says it's HDV 1080/60i record & play.
So should the shooter of the HVR-Z1U shoot in 1080/60i so I can capture it using the HD1000U ? And what template should I use in Vegas?

K, we'll approach this differently?
Why would you shoot 50i with the Z1 for delivery in the USA? (I would, for 24p delivery, BTW)
If you shoot in any variant of 60i with this camcorder ie; CF24, CF30, or straight 60i, the MSeries decks will properly play it back.
Template? As mentioned previously, use the HDV template for the framerate at which you shot the footage. ie; HDV 1440 x 1080/60i for 60i footage, 1440 x 1080/p30 for 30p footage. With the Z1, I highly recommend you not shoot at CF24.
HTH.
